In a recent rally in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made strong remarks against the Congress party, the National Conference (NC), and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of promoting terrorism in the region. His statements came ahead of the crucial third phase of J&K elections, scheduled for October 1, where he urged voters to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Adityanath’s rhetoric painted the three parties as “private limited companies” that have historically exploited the Kashmir issue. He emphasized that under their governance, Jammu and Kashmir became a “warehouse of terrorism,” leading to the loss of many young lives. He asserted that the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has worked to transform the region from a center of terrorism into a hub of tourism and peace

During his speech, Adityanath highlighted the sacrifices made by Indian leaders for a unified country, particularly referencing Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, who fought for “one PM, one flag, and one constitution.” He claimed that the abrogation of Article 370, which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was a significant step towards realizing the dreams of those who fought for India’s integrity

He criticized the Congress and its allies for their past inaction regarding the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits and their stance on issues like cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade, which he linked to the support of terrorism. “Does Congress support dialogue with Pakistan so that our youth continue to get killed?” he questioned, asserting that the current situation in Pakistan reflects the failure of its governance

Adityanath also spoke about the positive developments in Kashmir since BJP came to power, such as the successful organization of G-20 meetings and the influx of pilgrims for the Amarnath Yatra. He framed these events as indicators of restored peace and security in the region, which were previously threatened

His remarks were a part of a broader BJP strategy to consolidate support ahead of the elections, as the party aims to project itself as the only viable option for stability and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. As the election approaches, the political landscape remains tense, with issues of security, governance, and community welfare at the forefront of voters’ concerns
