Kaushambi (UP): A Class 6 student named Aditya Kushwaha from a government school in Newari has tragically lost vision in his left eye after his teacher, Shailendra Tiwari, struck him with a stick. Despite undergoing two surgeries, the eye remains irreparable. Aditya’s mother has now sought justice by appealing to the district child welfare committee, prompting police action against the teacher.
The incident occurred on March 9 when Aditya was instructed to call students playing outside. He reported that after informing the teacher that the students did not respond, Tiwari became angry and hit him with a stick. “After I got hurt, he took me for treatment, but I could only lie down in class after they put in eyedrops. My classmates then informed my mother about what happened,” Aditya recounted, explaining his inability to see from his left eye.
Aditya’s mother, Srimati, expressed her distress, stating that the teacher threw the stick, which caused the injury. “It hit him in the eye and started bleeding. We approached the police, but our complaint was initially dismissed. It was only after the education department intervened that the case was taken seriously,” she said.
An eye examination conducted on April 15 revealed severe damage, leading to Aditya being referred to an eye hospital in Chitrakoot for surgery. Unfortunately, doctors have confirmed that the eye cannot be saved. In a troubling twist, the teacher allegedly offered the family ₹10 lakh to silence the matter, a proposal they firmly rejected.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway, with the police having officially registered a case against the teacher.
