A Vistara flight (UK27) en route from Mumbai to Frankfurt was diverted to Turkey due to a bomb threat on September 6, 2024. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Erzurum Airport in eastern Turkey at approximately 7:05 pm local time after the crew became aware of the security concern. Following safety protocols, the airline’s crew acted swiftly, notifying authorities and prioritizing the safety of all passengers.
Upon landing, Turkish security forces and local authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft. Passengers were safely disembarked and taken care of by the airline during this inspection process. So far, no further updates on the threat’s nature or any potential arrests have been made public. Vistara has been closely coordinating with Turkish officials to ensure the passengers’ well-being and a safe resumption of their journey.
The aircraft was in the air for over seven hours before the incident occurred. This diversion highlights the growing importance of stringent security measures in air travel, especially in response to potential threats
