Mumbai Police arrest a man from Jharkhand after he threatened Salman Khan with a ₹5 crore ransom demand.

Mumbai Police recently arrested a man from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, for issuing a death threat to Bollywood star Salman Khan in the name of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The suspect demanded a ransom of ₹5 crore, threatening to harm Khan if the amount wasn’t paid. The message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police on October 18, followed by an apology claiming the threat was a mistake. Despite the apology, police launched a full investigation, leading to the arrest. The arrested individual will be transported to Mumbai for further legal proceedings.

This incident adds to the ongoing security concerns for Khan, who has faced multiple threats linked to the Bishnoi gang. The feud originates from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, where Khan was accused of killing an animal sacred to the Bishnoi community. Lawrence Bishnoi has since vowed revenge.

Khan’s security has been significantly heightened in response, with the actor receiving Y+ security and his residence, Galaxy Apartments, being closely monitored by high-tech surveillance, including AI-enabled facial recognition systems. The Mumbai police are taking no chances after previous attempts on Khan’s life, including a shooting near his home earlier this year.

The suspect allegedly threatened that if the ransom wasn’t paid, Khan would face dire consequences worse than the tragic fate of politician Baba Siddique. The Mumbai police swiftly traced the sender’s location to Jharkhand and carried out the arrest in collaboration with local law enforcement. Although the sender later apologized, authorities proceeded with the arrest to ensure the safety of Khan and the community.

Given the repeated threats, Khan’s security arrangements will likely remain stringent, while investigations continue to understand whether this recent threat was an isolated act or part of a larger scheme. Khan’s legal and security teams are staying vigilant to prevent any further attempts on his life.

This case highlights the growing issue of extortion attempts targeting celebrities, with gangs exploiting their public visibility to issue demands. It also underscores the continued relevance of the decades-old blackbuck case, which remains a point of tension between Salman Khan and the Bishnoi community.
