Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his recent rally in Hisar, Haryana, delivered a strong message as part of his campaign ahead of the crucial state assembly elections on October 5, 2024. Addressing a large gathering, Modi took direct aim at the Congress, accusing it of promoting nepotism, casteism, and stalling Haryana’s development. He urged voters to support the BJP for continued stability, progress, and growth in the state.
In his speech, Modi emphasized that voting for Congress would be detrimental to Haryana’s economic growth and stability. He highlighted the achievements of his government, particularly in sectors like industry and agriculture, where Haryana has made significant progress under BJP rule. He pointed out that international companies now seek to invest in the state, which has resulted in benefits for farmers, the poor, and marginalized communities, including Dalits. Modi underscored the role of industrialization in empowering these groups, referencing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s belief that industry plays a key role in Dalit empowerment.
The Prime Minister also took a swipe at Congress for its history of family-based politics and regional divisions, stating that the party thrives on creating a rift between communities. Modi claimed that a return to Congress rule would hinder Haryana’s development and take the state backward. In contrast, he painted a picture of Haryana’s future under BJP as one of growth, unity, and prosperity, driven by initiatives like industrial expansion and rural development programs.
The rally in Hisar was a major event for the BJP, as it brought together 23 candidates from six key districts in the Bagri belt. Modi’s appearance was strategically aimed at consolidating votes and neutralizing the challenge posed by rebel candidates, including some contesting as independents. Hisar, an important district in Haryana politics, has also garnered attention due to the presence of prominent independent candidates, such as Savitri Jindal, India’s richest woman, who is contesting from the district.
Modi’s speech comes just days before the election, with the BJP focusing on ensuring that it retains control of Haryana. The Prime Minister’s message resonated with many in the audience, particularly his focus on stability and development. As the state prepares for the elections, the BJP is banking on Modi’s influence and his track record at the national level to swing votes in its favor.
Overall, Modi’s final pitch to Haryana voters reinforced the BJP’s narrative of progress and development, positioning Congress as a party stuck in outdated politics. His appeal to the electorate focused on the need to choose a government that would lead Haryana into a new era of prosperity and avoid a return to the divisive politics of the past
