Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently revealed that he once declined an offer to run for the Prime Minister’s post. Speaking at a journalism awards event in Nagpur, Gadkari shared that a political leader had approached him, offering support for his candidacy for Prime Minister. However, Gadkari turned down the proposal, emphasizing that becoming the PM was never his goal in life.
Gadkari, who is known for his long-standing contributions to the BJP and his role as the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, stated that his loyalty lies with his convictions and his organization. He explained that he would not compromise his principles for any position, including that of Prime Minister. According to Gadkari, success in democracy depends on maintaining ethical standards across all pillars—judiciary, executive, legislature, and media.
Gadkari’s name has surfaced multiple times as a potential contender for the Prime Minister’s post, notably during the 2019 and 2024 general elections. Despite this speculation, he reiterated his commitment to supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rejecting any ambitions for the country’s top political office
