Bollywood actress and filmmaker Kangana Ranaut has voiced her deep disappointment following the postponement of her highly anticipated film Emergency. The film, which marks Kangana’s directorial venture and features her in the lead role, was slated for a release later this year but has now been pushed to an unspecified date.
In a recent statement, Kangana expressed her frustration with the situation, saying, “I am deeply disappointed with the way things have turned out. This film is not just another project for me; it’s a story that needs to be told. The delay feels like a setback not just for me but for the entire team that has put their heart and soul into it.”
Kangana’s Emergency has been in the spotlight since its announcement, primarily due to its controversial subject matter. The film is set during the Emergency period in India (1975-77) and has sparked considerable interest as well as debate. Kangana, known for her bold stance on various national issues, has portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, a role she has described as “challenging but necessary.”
The actress did not shy away from expressing her dissatisfaction with the country’s current state of affairs, linking the film’s postponement to broader issues within the industry and beyond. “It’s disheartening to see how certain elements are still at play, trying to suppress voices that speak the truth. I expected more support from my fellow countrymen, especially for a film that delves into such a significant chapter of our history,” she remarked.
While the reasons behind the postponement remain unclear, industry insiders speculate that it could be due to a combination of political pressures and the need for additional post-production work. Kangana, however, has hinted at a lack of support and systemic challenges as contributing factors.
Despite the setback, Kangana remains determined to bring Emergency to the big screen. “This is a story that will be told, no matter how long it takes. I owe it to the people of this country to present this film, and I am committed to ensuring that it reaches the audience.”
The postponement has indeed disappointed fans who were eagerly awaiting the release, but many have taken to social media to express their support for Kangana, urging her to stay strong and continue her fight to bring the film to life.
As of now, the new release date for Emergency has not been announced, but Kangana assured her followers that updates will be provided as soon as possible.
