The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have reportedly finalized their seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5, 2024. According to multiple reports, AAP will contest five seats, while Congress will field candidates for the remaining constituencies. This alliance, part of the INDIA bloc’s broader strategy, is expected to be officially announced on September 9, 2024.
Discussions between Congress‘ Deepak Babaria and AAP leader Raghav Chadha have been ongoing, with both parties aiming to prioritize the unity and needs of the people of Haryana over individual aspirations. However, Raghav Chadha has stated that if the alliance does not present a “win-win situation” for both sides, AAP might reconsider its participation(The New Indian Express)(mint).
The last date for filing nominations for the Haryana polls is September 12, 2024. Despite the positive direction of talks, AAP initially sought 10 seats, while Congress was willing to offer only seven(Business Insider).
