A significant accident in Nagpur on September 10, 2024, involved an Audi owned by the son of Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The vehicle, carrying five occupants, including Bawankule’s son Sanket, rammed into multiple vehicles, injuring two people. The incident occurred in the Ramdaspeth area after the group had been returning from a bar.
The Audi first collided with a car driven by Jitendra Sonkamble and then hit a moped, injuring its two riders. The situation escalated when the Audi struck other vehicles while heading toward Mankapur. A chase ensued, with the occupants of a Polo car pursuing the Audi and eventually stopping it near the Mankapur bridge. At this point, three of the Audi’s occupants, including Sanket Bawankule, fled the scene. However, two others, Arjun Haware and Ronit Chintanwar, were detained by bystanders and later arrested by the police.
A case of rash driving has been filed, and the arrested individuals were released on bail. BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule acknowledged the accident, confirming that the car was registered in his son’s name. He emphasized that the law must apply equally to all and called for an impartial investigation into the incident (India Today)(DNA India).
