In response to recent alarming incidents of food contamination in Uttar Pradesh, including cases where human waste was allegedly mixed into food, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken decisive action to strengthen food safety regulations across the state.
Several incidents, such as a Saharanpur case where a teenager was caught on video spitting on food, and a Ghaziabad juice vendor accused of mixing urine into beverages, have sparked widespread public outrage. These cases have severely undermined consumer trust and prompted urgent governmental intervention.
To address these issues, Adityanath has mandated stricter hygiene practices in all food establishments. These include compulsory use of masks and gloves by chefs and waiters, mandatory installation of CCTV cameras, and visible display of the names and addresses of restaurant owners. Additionally, police verification of all employees working in eateries has been made a priority to ensure the safety and well-being of customers. There are also plans to amend the Food Safety and Standards Act to make these regulations more robust and legally binding.
