Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently engaged with the CEOs of leading U.S. technology companies in a high-profile roundtable at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering in New York. This meeting, part of Modi’s three-day U.S. visit, focused on fostering collaboration in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.

The roundtable was attended by 15 top executives from major tech firms including Google, Adobe, NVIDIA, IBM, and more. Prominent figures included Sundar Pichai (Google), Shantanu Narayen (Adobe), Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), Lisa Su (AMD), and Arvind Krishna (IBM). This forum provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions on how technological advancements can revolutionize global economies and contribute to human development. It highlighted the growing prominence of India as a tech and innovation hub, especially in sectors like AI, semiconductors, and biotech

During the roundtable, Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s commitment to becoming the third-largest economy in the world by leveraging its technological capabilities. He encouraged global tech leaders to explore opportunities for co-developing, co-designing, and co-producing technology innovations in India. Modi also stressed India’s goal to establish itself as a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing, in line with his government’s push for electronics and information technology manufacturing(PM India).

One of the key themes discussed was the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET), which is central to the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. ICET is designed to foster collaboration in cutting-edge technologies between the two nations. Modi assured the CEOs of India’s strong stance on intellectual property protection and its supportive ecosystem for tech innovation, making the country an attractive destination for investment

The attending CEOs expressed a strong interest in deepening their collaboration with India. They praised the country’s innovation-friendly policies and growing technological landscape. The discussion also highlighted India’s focus on AI development, underpinned by ethical and responsible use. Moreover, India’s BIO E3 policy, aimed at turning the nation into a biotech powerhouse, was introduced during the discussion

In summary, the roundtable served as a powerful platform for Prime Minister Modi to showcase India’s economic transformation and appeal to global tech giants for deeper collaboration in areas such as AI, quantum computing, and biotechnology. The enthusiasm from the tech leaders indicated a strong interest in aligning with India’s growth story, potentially leading to significant future collaborations
