In Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, the terror of wolf attacks continues, with a recent incident involving a 13-year-old boy named Armaan Ali. On the night of September 15, Armaan was attacked by a wolf while sleeping on the terrace of his home in Pipri Mohan village, Mahsi area. He sustained injuries to his neck and was swiftly taken to a Community Health Center before being referred to Bahraich Medical College for further treatment.
This attack is part of a larger crisis in the region, where a pack of wolves has been terrorizing nearly 50 villages. Since mid-July, the wolves have claimed the lives of 10 children and a woman, injuring 51 others. The forest department has managed to capture five of the six wolves, but one remains at large.
In response to the crisis, the state government has launched “Operation Bhediya,” deploying over 165 forest personnel and 18 shooters to track down the remaining wolf. Drones equipped with thermal cameras and other surveillance equipment are being used to assist in the search. High-mast and solar lights have also been installed in vulnerable areas to ensure the safety of villagers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited affected families and assured them that the government is committed to ending the threat
