Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail after spending six months in jail in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. The Supreme Court granted him interim bail with several strict conditions. While Kejriwal can now leave prison, he is prohibited from visiting the Chief Minister’s Office or the Delhi Secretariat and is not allowed to sign any official files without prior clearance from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. These restrictions are part of the bail conditions imposed by the court, which also bars him from making any public statements related to the case or interacting with witnesses.
Kejriwal’s arrest in March 2024 was linked to alleged corruption in the formulation of the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-2022. The bail decision comes after a prolonged legal battle, during which the Aam Aadmi Party leader had repeatedly denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated
