During a recent event in Herndon, Virginia, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi delivered a sharp critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. Addressing the Indian diaspora, Gandhi claimed that after the Lok Sabha elections, the atmosphere of fear that Modi and his administration had created—particularly among small businesses—has dissipated. He emphasized that Modi’s “56-inch chest” persona, symbolizing strength and control, has become a thing of the past.
Gandhi highlighted that this fear, which had been built up over years, vanished almost instantly after the elections. He also took aim at the RSS, accusing them of not understanding India’s diversity and for promoting the idea that certain states, languages, and communities are inferior to others. He stressed that India, as per the Constitution, is a union of states with a rich tapestry of traditions and languages, a reality he believes the BJP fails to acknowledge.
This speech is part of Gandhi’s broader criticism of Modi’s government during his ongoing US visit (India Today)(Zee News).
