On September 4, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the iconic Sri Temasek bungalow, marking a key moment in the bilateral relationship between India and Singapore. This visit is PM Modi’s fifth to Singapore and comes as part of his two-nation tour, following a historic visit to Brunei.
During their meeting, PM Modi and PM Wong focused on strengthening ties in various areas, including trade, digital innovation, and skill development. Singapore is India’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and a significant source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Modi’s visit aims to further enhance economic collaboration, particularly in sectors like advanced manufacturing and sustainable development.
In addition to his talks with PM Wong, PM Modi will participate in a business roundtable with key Singaporean business leaders and engage with students involved in the India Ready Talent Programme. He is also scheduled to meet with Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and other prominent leaders such as Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong
