Swiggy has launched an innovative 10-minute food delivery service called “Bolt,” marking another leap in the quick commerce sector. The new feature is now operational across major cities, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune. This service is designed to cater to customers within a 2 km radius, focusing on quick-to-prepare dishes such as coffee, burgers, ice cream, and biryani. Swiggy aims to reduce wait times even further for its users by leveraging partnerships with restaurants that specialize in rapid preparation.
The move towards ultra-fast food delivery is part of Swiggy’s broader strategy to offer unmatched convenience and stay competitive with rivals like Zomato. Swiggy’s CEO, Rohit Kapoor, highlighted that this step aligns with their goal of cutting average delivery times, which previously stood at around 30 minutes. This 10-minute service is seen as a natural evolution, particularly in response to the growing demand for instant food delivery.
One of the key aspects of Bolt is that delivery partners are not informed whether an order is a Bolt order or a regular one, ensuring that they are not pressured or incentivized based on delivery times. The feature will gradually expand to additional locations over the coming weeks and will be prominently displayed in the app’s food section. Swiggy also recently introduced another service, “Café,” offering 15-minute delivery for snacks and beverages, adding to its array of rapid-delivery options.
The rollout of Bolt comes as Swiggy prepares for its IPO and aims to enhance its market presence, although the company continues to face competition and financial challenges. Despite slower growth compared to competitors, Swiggy remains committed to innovation, with the Bolt service serving as a key initiative to revolutionize the food delivery landscape.
This new offering is expected to attract users who prioritize speed and convenience, as the demand for quick delivery continues to shape the foodtech industry in India.
