Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the facelift version of its popular compact SUV, the Tata Punch, in the coming weeks. This mid-life refresh is designed to keep the Punch in line with Tata’s evolving lineup, such as the Harrier and Nexon. While the core design of the Punch remains largely unchanged, there are several updates focused on technology and convenience.
Design Updates
The facelifted Tata Punch will feature minor cosmetic changes. The front end is expected to borrow some design cues from the Punch EV, with refreshed headlights and a revised grille. The side profile will see new alloy wheels, while the rear section will remain mostly the same with subtle tweaks (Autocar India)(Overdrive).
Feature Upgrades
One of the most significant changes is the upgraded infotainment system, with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen replacing the current 7.0-inch unit. This system will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, and new Type-C charging ports. The single-pane sunroof will now be available across more variants, and rear AC vents and an armrest will be added for enhanced comfort (Autocar India)(Overdrive).
Powertrain Details
Mechanically, the Punch facelift will continue to be powered by the existing 1.2-liter, three-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The CNG variant will also remain, with a manual transmission option, although there is speculation that Tata might introduce the AMT gearbox for the CNG model as well (Overdrive).
Pricing
The pre-facelift version of the Tata Punch is priced between ₹6.13 lakh and ₹10.20 lakh. With the updates, the facelift model is expected to carry a marginal price increase (Autocar India)(Overdrive).
Overall, the Tata Punch facelift is designed to offer better technology and convenience without drastic changes to its already successful formula, making it a strong contender in the compact SUV segment.
